1. Prepare background

Select vintage papers and affix to the self-adhesive mounting board. Turn over the board, and use the craft knife to trim the edges.

2. Sketch vase

On a piece of sketch paper, using the fine-tip black marker, draw a vase. Turn the paper over and draw over the vase outline. It is important to have the drawing on both sides of the paper.

3. Arrange textiles on vase

Iron fusible webbing on the back of all the handkerchiefs. Cut off all four edges of each handkerchief. The strips should be ¼″ (6mm) in width and can vary in length. Save the inner portion of the handkerchiefs for step 5.

Pull off the paper backing on the strips so they are ready to iron down. Lay out each strip horizontally, overlapping, until the vase is completely covered.

Iron the fabric strips. Allow the fabric to cool.
